AVMA-Accredited Program

The Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College's veterinary technology program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA).

Graduates of the Vet Tech Institute of Hickey College's veterinary technology program are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam, which is one of the steps required to become a registered veterinary technician. Achieving this certification is important to employers and will allow you to provide additional care to animals.  

The Hickey College Veterinary Technology Program is currently accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Hickey College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (www.acics.org) to award diplomas, associate’s degrees, and bachelor’s degrees. Any student who has a complaint relating to Title IV eligibility or administration, the quality of education received, or otherwise relating to the accreditation standards of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools can submit that complaint to Hickey College and/or any of the following:  the U.S. Department of Education's Student Complaint website at www.ed.gov;  the Missouri Department of Higher Education, Proprietary Schools, 205 Jefferson Street, PO Box 1469, Jefferson City, MO  65102-6635; Missouri Attorney General, PO Box 899 Jefferson City, MO  65102.  The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is currently not recognized as an accreditor by the U.S. Department of Education.  Hickey College has until June 12, 2018 to become accredited by a recognized accreditor or the institution no longer will be eligible to receive funds under Title IV, HEA programs.
